As your farmer, I am committed to helping to build our community, providing fresh and healthy food to you and being a responsible steward of the farmland and our ecosystem. The CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model is an innovative way for you to receive fresh vegetables each week and be a part of the Deri Farm community. Healthy vegetables come from healthy soil. Using organic farming methods, I am not just restoring the nutrients in the soil, but improving its quality for our future.

Spring in the Greenhouse

Spring is coming.  Some early signs of spring in spite of the 17 F degrees and huge drift of snow: We started these onions (variety: Cortland) on March 4, 2015.  The photo was taken the morning of March 18.  The onions were seeded in to 128s at 2-3 seeds per cell.

These tomatoes were started on March 11, 2015 and the photo is March 18.  These are early tomatoes that will be planted in the greenhouse and a hoophouse.  The varieties are Margold, Sakura, Sun Gold, and Bigdena.  With the exception of Sun Gold, all are varieties that perform well in a greenhouse in large part because of disease resistance.  We have had a problem with leaf mold the past couple of years.
