As your farmer, I am committed to helping to build our community, providing fresh and healthy food to you and being a responsible steward of the farmland and our ecosystem. The CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model is an innovative way for you to receive fresh vegetables each week and be a part of the Deri Farm community. Healthy vegetables come from healthy soil. Using organic farming methods, I am not just restoring the nutrients in the soil, but improving its quality for our future.

CSA Share (Week 16) – Distribution 15 – Week of Sept 30

For a couple of reasons, the weeks of September 23, 2014 and October 7, 2014 have no CSA distributions.  First of all, I have heard from many CSA members that they are having a hard time catching up with their backlog of vegetables.  So, one week without a share after following a large share should give everyone a break.  Also, I need time to catch up on some things around the farm that need to be taken care of.  I hope it works well for everyone!

The share for the week of September 30 includes:

  • Winter Squash (delicata, acorn, red kuri, sunshine) – choose 4 (average 1 pound each) @ $2 per pound – $8
  • Potatoes (fingerling and “regular” varieties) – 5 pounds @ $2 – $10
  • Onions – 2 pounds @ $2 per pound – $4
  • Celeriac – choose 2 (average .75 pounds each) @ $2.50 per pound – $3.75
  • Beets, topped – 1 pound @ $2.50 per pound – $2.50
  • Cabbage – 2 pounds @ $2 per pound – $4
  • Peppers and Eggplant – 2 pounds @ $3 per pound – $6
  • Carrots, baby – 1.5 pounds @ $2.50 per pound – $3.75
  • Garlic – 0.3 pounds @ $12 per pound – $3.50
  • Tomatoes – .75 pounds @ $3 per pound – $2.25

The total share value for the week is $47.75 and the total for the season thus far is $543.00.
